Subaru ( 宮本 昴 , Miyamoto Subaru ) and Kazuma Miyamoto ( 宮本 和 馬 , Miyamoto Kazuma ) are twins. The two were happy siblings until Kazuma fell ill with a brain tumor. He has to spend the remainder of his childhood in the hospital, with his condition and memory deteriorating. Subaru would do anything to make her beloved brother well or even to get him to smile. She dances like this to make him laugh. As a result, Subaru developed a talent for dance and ballet. After she accidentally takes a ballet lesson from a friend's mother, Subaru wants to learn ballet. But Kazuma's condition worsens and the dream of ballet seems lost. Subaru is angry and says she would be happier if Kazuma was gone. Kazuma dies shortly afterwards before his sister can apologize to him.

Seven years later, the teenage Subaru is hanging around a bar in the red light district, sometimes showing off her talent on stage. The owner of the bar, a former ballerina, teaches her the art of ballet. Subaru finds a family on the bar staff. Your goal is to make an appearance. She gets this chance through hard training in a performance of Swan Lake , in which she amazes several viewers. She takes the next step by participating in the Prix de Lausanne , a ballet competition held in Lausanne for mainly non-European dancers. Subaru made it to the final of the award. Shortly before the finale, she learns that the owner of the bar in Japan and her teacher have died at the same time. Subaru then loses all courage and appears despite a high fever. Maybe just because of this situation she wins the Prix. She gets an offer for free lessons at the Royal Ballet School, but takes a different route. She goes to New York because of an offer to work as a dancer. Once there, however, she realizes that the ballet company she is supposed to dance for has not had a performance for two years and is on the verge of bankruptcy.

However, through a sensational appearance in a prison, the company became known nationwide, so that Pricilla Roberts, the most successful ballerina in the USA, became aware of her. She is particularly interested in Subaru, in which she sees a kind of rival and successor at the same time.

Subaru has been translated into Chinese, French, Spanish and German. In Germany, the eleven paperback books were published from June 2003 to November 2005 in the adult label of Egmont Manga & Anime Verlag.
