Subhi Bey Barakat al-Khalidi ( Arabic صبحي بك بركات الخالدي, Turkish : Suphi Bereket * 1889 in Antakya , † 1939 ) was a Syrian politician of Turkish origin, during the League of Nations Mandate for Syria and Lebanon , the President of the Syrian Federation of From June 29, 1922 to December 31, 1924 and from January 1, 1925 to December 21 of the same year, he was head of state of Syria .

One of the reasons the French mandate supported Barakat's candidacy was that he was not a Damascus native and his Arabic was not very good (his mother tongue was Turkish), so he shouldn't pose a nationalist threat to the mandate. He resigned from office in December 1925 in protest against the unwillingness of the French to integrate the Alawite and Druze states into the state of Syria.

Barakat had two daughters with his wife Halime: Süheyla Mukbile married the Turkish politician Refik Koraltan , while the second daughter Zehra was also married to a Turkish politician ( Vahit Melih Halefoğlu ).
