Sue Hettmansperger

Sue Hettmansperger (* 1948 ) is an American painter and university lecturer.

Hettmansperger studied at the University of New Mexico and in 1971 attended the Summer School in Art at Yale University . She has been teaching at the University of Iowa since 1977 . From 1972 to 1974 she was assistant to Garo Antreasian at the University of New Mexico, 1974-75 she taught printmaking and drawing at Pennsylvania State University and in 1985 she gave visiting lectures and art theory and aesthetics at the University of New Mexico.

There are collections of works by Hettmansperger u. a. owned by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, NY, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art , the Des Moines Art Center, and the Museum of the Art Institute of Chicago . She has had several solo exhibitions at the New York AIR Gallery , Artemisia Gallery C in San Francisco, the University of Northern Iowa Gallery and others, as well as group shows at the Hyde Park Art Center Chicago (1992), the Des Moines Art Center (1996), at the University of Texas at San Antonio (2002), at Grinnell College (2003), at Northern Arizona University (2005) and Bowling Green State University (2005), at the Figge Museum of Art (2010), the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art (2006 and 2012) and the Museum of the Art Institute of Chicago (2012).
