Sue Monk Kidd
Sue Monk Kidd (born August 12, 1948 in Sylvester, Georgia , USA) is an American writer.
She studied health and nursing and worked in this field. Her first steps towards writing began with an essay that was printed in Reader's Digest . Her first book God's Joyful Surprise was published in 1988 and was about her spiritual experiences as a Christian.
She first became known in 2002 through her book The Secret Life of Bees (German Die Bienenhüterin ), which was filmed in 2008. Her second book The Mermaid Chair (German Die Meerfrau) was also made into a film under the title The Secret of the Mermaid ; the film rights to The Invention of Wings ( The invention of the wings ) from the year 2014 secured Oprah Winfrey .
