Sulayman Masanneh Ceesay

Alhaji Sulayman Masanneh "SMC" Ceesay (born November 23, 1939 in Bathurst , † May 9, 2015 in Serekunda ) was a politician in the West African state of Gambia .

Life

Ceeaay was born in Bathurst in 1939, the son of union officials Dodou MM Ceesay and Ellen King. He served as Divisional Commissioner (DC) in all five divisions (now regions). He later worked in the Ministry of Agriculture and was promoted to State Secretary in the Ministry of Health in 1982 . Ceesay was from September 2003 to May 2004 Home Secretary ( Minister of Interior, Local Government and Lands and Religious Affairs ) in the Cabinet Yahya Jammeh .

He died in 2015 after a brief illness and was buried in the Old Jeshwang Muslim Cemetery. He left behind two women, including Fatoumatta Jahumpa-Ceesay , who is also politically active in Gambia.
