Sulcorebutia breviflora is a species of plant in the genus Sulcorebutia from the cactus family(Cactaceae).

description

Sulcorebutia breviflora grows individually or often sprouting with flattened, cylindrical to club-shaped, brownish-green to dark-green bodies with age. With diameters of 5 to 6 centimeters, these reach heights of up to 10 centimeters and have a long beet root. The ribs are clearly divided into cusps. The areoles on it are elliptical and gray. The up to four protruding central spines , which can also be missing, are 0.3 to 1 centimeter long. The 10 to 16 radial spines, which are arranged in a comb shape, lie against the surface of the body and interlock. They are stiff, needle-shaped, gray to whitish and are 0.2 to 1.5 centimeters long.

The light to dark yellow flowers are 2 to 3 centimeters long and have the same diameter. The greenish to reddish fruits have a diameter of 4 to 5 millimeters.

Distribution, systematics and endangerment

Sulcorebutia breviflora is widespread in the Bolivian department of Cochabamba at altitudes between 2000 and 2800 meters.

The first description was published in 1966 by Curt Backeberg . Important synonyms are Rebutia caineana Cardenas , Rebutia breviflora (Backeb.) DRHunt and Weingartia breviflora (Backeb.) Hentzschel & K.Augustin .

In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
