Sulpicius Gallus is an impact crater on the front of the moon . It is located in the Mare Serenitatis plain at the foot of the Montes Haemus . To the northwest of the crater, the Rimae Sulpicius Gallus run parallel to the Montes Haemus and to the southeast, the Dorsa Sorby run in the same direction. Also parallel to the Montes Haemus, the ridge of the Dorsum Buckland runs further inside the Mare Serenitatis .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Roman general and astronomer Gaius Sulpicius Galus .
