The Sumallo River is a 29 km long right tributary of the Skagit River in the southern Canadian province of British Columbia .

River course

The Sumallo River rises on the northern slope of Mount Rideout ( 2445  m ) in the Skagit Range , a ridge of the Northern Cascade Range . It initially flows 13 km to the north. At Sunshine Valley it turns to the southeast. The British Columbia Highway 3 (Crowsnest Highway) now follows the course of the river. The Sumallo River eventually flows into the Skagit River. The bottom 8 miles is in Manning Provincial Park .

Hydrology

The Sumallo River drains an area of ​​210 km². The mean discharge 2 km above the mouth is 8 m³ / s. The river usually carries the largest amounts of water in the months of May and June.
