Sumitomo Rubber Industries, Ltd. is a Japanese manufacturer of tires and rubber products . The company was founded in 1909 by the Sumitomo Group to manufacture bicycle tires. Today the company manufactures tennis rackets, car tires, tennis balls, golf balls and various other rubber products. The company's headquarters are in Kobe .

In 1981 Sumitomo had annual sales of 530 million US dollars and a world market share of 1.8 percent.

Sumitomo Rubber Industries has owned Dunlop since 1983 , which has been run in a joint venture with Goodyear since 1999 .
