Sunday Uti

Sunday Uti (born October 23, 1962 ) is a former Nigerian sprinter who specialized in the 400-meter run .

In 1980 in Moscow he first took part in the Olympic Games, but retired with the Nigerian 4-by-400-meter relay in the preliminary round. Uti achieved first international success with his victory in the 400-meter run at the Universiade 1983 in Edmonton and his second place over the same distance at the 1984 African Athletics Championships in Rabat.

At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, he won the bronze medal as a starting runner in the 4 x 400 meter relay together with Moses Ugbisie , Rotimi Peters and Innocent Egbunike . In the 400-meter run, Uti took sixth place in Los Angeles.

In 1985 he was third in the 400-meter run at the Universiade in Kobe . At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, however, he missed the finals over this distance. With the relay he reached seventh place there.

Sunday Uti is 1.75 m tall and had a competition weight of 68 kg.
