The Sunflower is a dinghy that, due to its size, can be transported on the car roof.

The Sunflower has a latin sail with a sail area of around 5 m². The hull is made of EPS with an ABS covering and was therefore unsinkable. From 1972 to the mid-1980s, the Sunflower was sold by the Snark company in Hamburg . For more than 20 years, Thuro-Plast AG has taken over the production of SNARK boats in Lichtensteig, Switzerland (canton St. Gallen). The company also sells spare parts. A sister model with a high sail was sold under the name Sunracer . The slightly larger sister models were called Wildflower and Mayflower .

Due to the large number of tens of thousands of Sunflowers sold, there are still many of these dinghies today (status 2008). There is also a German Sunflower Class Association that organizes regattas with Sunflowers every year at the Wameler Basin of the Möhnesees . The regattas usually take place on the first or second weekend in September at the YSM guest club.
