Sunshine Reggae is a song by the Danish duo Laid Back that was first released as a single in 1982. In 1983 it was also released on the album Keep Smiling . The piece was composed by Tim Stahl and John Guldberg. Along with Bakerman and White Horse , it's one of the band's hits.

Publication and reception

After its first release in 1982, Sunshine Reggae developed into the summer hit of 1983 after a certain amount of time and reached number one in Germany and Austria in September. The song reached number 3 in Italy , number 4 in the Netherlands and Belgium and number 9 in Switzerland . The song, Sunshine Reggae in Ibiza , which was named after the song and premiered in November 1983 , contributed to the additional popularity of the piece .

The piece was released in various single versions, including Metronome Records , Polydor Records , Sire Records , CBS and Atlas Records . The song was also released in different versions as a 12 "maxi with a length of about 6:30 minutes.

Laid Back sang the song on December 17th, 1983 at Thommy's Pop Show in the Westfalenhalle Dortmund .

Music video

In the music video, the musicians can be seen first in an office in the summer, then on a South Sea beach, where they perform the song, joke and make music with the locals.

Cover versions

A version of The Nips made it into the charts in Switzerland in 1983 and reached number 3. In 1984, Mungo Jerry and Horizon released a version of the song on the album Boogie Up . In 2000, the Laid Back vs. Funkstar De Luxe place 68 in Germany.
