action

The East Frisian farmer Karl is a big fan of the pop star Linda Lou. He had already written her 58 love letters to Ibiza when he finally received an autograph card from her. He immediately sets off to see her on his bike , but then gets on a Deutsche Bundesbahn train at Oldenburg Central Station . He finances the trip with the money he actually saved for a new milking machine . On Ibiza, Karl soon meets Linda Lou and persistently pursues her with his marriage wishes. A wide variety of characters cavort in Linda's circles: Barbara and her mother, who is concerned about the virginity of her daughter, the laid-back Johnny and his friend Slowly, and the nymphomaniac Rita, who persuades her husband Gottlieb, the manager of the hotel in which Karl lives, that he is just imagine their lovers. Johnny's uncle Bernie, on the other hand, stands a bit outside the pleasure-seeking circle, who as a hermit only has his (real) chickens around him. He swore off women after a failed relationship.

Since all of his new friends can be tolerated by him, Karl is left with no money after the first night of partying and has to look for work. He takes on various jobs, including trying his hand at being a waiter, photographer, pharmacist, animator and even - despite his love of animals - as a bullfighter . But every time he fails. Only when he meets millionaire Gobrukin does the tide seem to turn. Gobrukin is exactly like Karl and hires him; he should make his wife Suleika, who wants to separate from him, compliant. Meanwhile, Gobrukin poses as Karl. That ends for him in a hunt across Ibiza when the hotel manager, who has read that hallucinations would disappear with a blow "with the little hammer on the little toe", mistook him for one of his alleged hallucinations. While on the run from Gottlieb, who he believes would kill him with a hammer, the doppelganger as a supposed marriage swindler receives slaps in the face, including from Linda and her manager Christa. Karl's Schäferstündchen with Suleika also ends in chaos - Suleika, who suddenly becomes mad about love, finally follows him to East Friesland.

Reviews

The film-dienst wrote in 1983 that the film was "staged with childish stupid comedy and cheap hit music at the lowest level" and added: "The cast is probably the most untalented offspring in German film."

Cinema said: “Anyone who has seen this crap understands why Karl Dall looks so stupid. Conclusion: Your eyelids drop down ”.

On the occasion of a television screening of the film in 1998, Der Spiegel wrote that “this only supposed comedy [...] even Karl Dall should be embarrassing today”.

In August 2017, the film was shown as part of the Tele-5 series The Worst Films of All Time .
