Champagne from the Knobelbecher is a German compatriot comedy by Franz Marischka from 1975.

action

France in World War II . The two German compatriots Ede Lang and Anderl Breitner, a Berliner and a Bavarian, made themselves comfortable in German-occupied France in 1944. In Normandy on the Atlantic coast they have a good time, the war driving seems far away. Suddenly, however, the Americans and British land on the coast and the Dolce Vita is over. When the GIs first take "their" village and then occupy "their" farm, the two soldiers decide to run away as quickly as possible. But how do you get ahead? The best thing to do is to organize two US uniforms and “requisition” an American tank without further ado, because, the two of them think, the enemy has more than enough of them.

The opportunity arises at the moment when a US tank stops advancing in the middle of an open field because a horse-drawn vehicle with German whores is coming towards them . While the Americans are having fun with the girls in the meadow, Ede and Anderl steal the tank and continue. Now, however, the two Teutons, who are extensively cared for from the air by the enemy who thinks they are Americans, are no longer mistaken for the hated "Boches" by the French, whom they meet on the retreat, but for the liberators. Accordingly, Ede and Anderl are cheered and fed by the French. And again a sweet life with wine, women and singing seems to be in sight for Anderl and Ede, willing (now French) whores and champagne from the Knobelbecher included.

Production notes

Champagne from the Knobelbecher , thematically based on the French "7th Company" Landser films by Robert Lamoureux of the 1970s, was made in the summer of 1975 and was premiered on November 28, 1975.

criticism

The lexicon of the international film pounded the film furiously: "The stupid work comes up with almost everything that could contribute to shoddy entertainment at the regulars' table."
