Supersystem is an American band whose music is a mixture of hip-hop , funk , punk , dance and other influences.

It was founded in 1996 by Pete Cafarella and Rafael Cohen and Justin Moyer under the name El Guapo in Washington . Back then their music was a very experimental mix of jazz and punk influences . After the release of three albums, they had to change their name due to legal disputes with a band of the same name. The Washington based company took the new name Supersystem from their debut album "Super / System". With the new beginning, the experimental musicians have now also taken a new (musical) direction and become a quartet with Josh Blair (previously Orthhelm ). On November 20, 2006, after the release of the last album, Supersystem completely unexpectedly canceled the tour and at the same time announced the breakup of the band.

style

The music is very beat-heavy and mixes dance , punk , hip-hop , funk and other styles of music. It is very difficult to classify the band's music in a certain genre.
