Kołacz ( German  Kollatz , also Collatz ) is a village in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship . It belongs to the rural community (gmina wiejska) Połczyn-Zdrój (Bad Polzin) in the powiat Świdwiński .

Geographical location

Kołacz is six kilometers east of Połczyn-Zdrój on a side road connection from Połczyn-Zdrój via Ogartowo (Jagertow) to Krosino (Groß Krössin) . The eastern boundary of the municipality is also the border between the powiat Świdwiński and the powiat Szczecinecki , and in the west the Dębnica (Damitz) delimits the village. Kołacz was until 2001 a railway station on the route Swidwin (Schivelbein) - Barwice (Bärwalde) .

history

Originally, Kollatz consisted of a manor and a farming village. For centuries it was a von Manteuffel fiefdom until it finally passed into the possession of this family. The Neu Kollatz estate (now in Polish: Kołaczek ) also belonged to this property . The Vorwerke Heide, Kirchdorf, Sophienhof, Mühlenkrug, Waldhof and Nemrin ( Niemierzyno ) also belonged to Kollatz.

In 1863 the community had 503 inhabitants with 59 fireplaces, in 1939 there were 805 inhabitants in 195 households. In addition to the estate and several farms, there was an estate distillery and a sawmill. A carpentry shop, a blacksmith's shop, a building company and a shoemaker's shop were independent craft businesses. There was also a general store, a wheelwright, an inn, a post office, a primary school and a forest ranger.

Until 1945 Kollatz belonged to the Belgard district . The place was a separate official and registry office district in the district court area Bad Polzin. The last mayor was Max Marquardt, the last head of office was Albert Zamzow, and the last registrar was Artur Zaske. On March 4, 1945, the village population made an unsuccessful attempt to escape. On March 5, 1945, Red Army troops occupied the village. The distillery went up in flames and numerous houses and barns were destroyed by fire. The village became part of Poland as a result of the Second World War , and the expulsion of the German population began in November 1945.

Today Kołacz is part of the Połczyn-Zdrój rural community.

church

Church in Kołacz

Kołacz has its own church, which was built in 1750 by Heinrich v. Manteuffel was built. It stands in place of the church built by Engelke and Gerdt von Manduvel before 1496, which, like the village, was devastated by fire. On the gallery balustrades were numerous (at least 18) family crests of the women who had married into the von Manteuffel family in the past centuries. In 1987 the church was completely restored, but the organ, the coat of arms gallery, all the stalls and the altar are still missing.

Until 1945, Kollatz was its own parish and subsidiary in the parish of Groß Poplow (today: Popielewo ). It belonged to the church district Belgard of the ecclesiastical province of Pomerania in the Evangelical Church of the Old Prussian Union . The last church patroness was Marie von Manteuffel. The last German pastor was Martin Vedder, who, drawn for military service, had been missing in the Crimea since 1944.

Today Kołacz belongs to the Parish Koszalin (Köslin) of the Polish Evangelical Church of the Augsburg (Lutheran) Confession . The place of the church is Świdwin (Schivelbein) . The village church is used by the Catholics as a place of worship and is a sight in the region.
