Wardyń Górny ( German  Hohenwardin ) is a village in Western Pomerania , now in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship . It belongs to the Gmina Połczyn-Zdrój ( Bad Polzin ) in the powiat Świdwiński ( Schivelbein ).

Geographical location

Wardyń Górny is located seven kilometers north-west of Połczyn-Zdrój and can be reached via Voivodeship Road No. 152 Płoty ( Plathe ) - Resko ( Rainforest ) - Świdwin ( Schivelbein ) - Buślary ( Buslar ). The places Borucino ( Brosland ) and Dziwogóra ( Dewsberg ) are historically associated with wardyń górny. The eastern municipal boundary was the city boundary to Bad Polzin until 1945 . The next train stations were until the closure of the Nowe Ludzicko ( Neu Lutzig ) and Połczyn-Zdrój line on the Grzmiąca – Świdwin line .

Local knowledge

Hohenwardin was an old Manteuffel fief. Georg Friedrich von Manteuffel was named as the owner as early as 1704. An urn find in the Hohenwardiner Feldmark in 1927 points to a prehistoric founding time: expanded graves with urns in a stone box.

In 1939 there were 424 inhabitants in 97 households in the 1033.8 hectare municipality of Hohenwardin. At that time, the Feldmark was managed by three landowners and 23 farms. The products were sold via Bad Polzin (Polish: Połczyn-Zdrój), from where the Hohenwardin population was also supplied.

Hohenwardin belonged to the administrative and civil registry district Buslar (Buślary) in the district Belgard (Persante) until 1945 . The mayor of the municipality, Rachow, and the head of the district, Fritz Rakow, were the last incumbents, as was the registrar Erdmann. The competent local court was in Bad Polzin.

In March 1945, the occupation of the village was carried out by troops of the Red Army , and in the autumn of the same year began the expulsion of the local population. Hohenwardin became part of the Polish Gmina Połczyn-Zdrój in the powiat Świdwiński under the name Wardyń Górny .

church

Hohenwardin did not have its own church, but was parish in the parish of Bad Polzin . It was in the parish of Belgard (Polish: Białogard) in the church province of Pomerania of the Evangelical Church of the Old Prussian Union .

Today Wardyń Górny is in the parish of Koszalin ( Köslin ) in the diocese of Pomerania-Greater Poland of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

school

As early as 1867, a single-class elementary school run by the manor was mentioned in Hohenwardin. Teacher Schröder taught here until 1927, followed by teacher Sturm, who was the school owner until 1945.
