history

At the beginning of their career, Support Lesbiens drew some criticism as they were one of the few bands in the Czech Republic who wrote their lyrics in English. They could only keep a few fans who were open to the foreign language. Support lesbians initially played in small clubs with up to 600 people or at medium-sized festivals with around 5,000 people. In 1993 there was an appearance in Berlin and the first tour . In the same year they released their debut album So What? .

1996 Support Lesbiens canceled their previous contract with the record company Sony Music Entertainment and separated for two years. In 1998 they started recording another album. In 2002 they signed with Sony Music / Bonton. In the following year they tried to write their new album Regeneration? present at as many summer festivals as possible. Numerous smaller appearances in shows and broadcasts followed, the band gained popularity in their country. For their tenth anniversary in 2002 they finally received a gold record for their album Tune da Radio . Support Lesbiens were awarded two Zlaté Anděle (German: "golden angels") of the Czech Music Academy for the best album of 2002 and the best band in 2002. In Poland they released Tune da Radio on the Sony Music Poland label . Soon after, they received gold for the album Regeneration and platinum for Tune da Radio .

In 2004 there were some changes in the composition. Jaromír "Yarda" Helešic was replaced by guitarist René Rypar, while bassist Jan Daliba and drummer Tomáš Novák joined the group. Support Lesbiens appeared in the future with five. Associated with this was a realignment of their previous style. They now devoted themselves to quieter styles. In the same year, the single Cliché reached number 1 in the Czech charts as the very first English-language version. Shortly thereafter, MTV Europe named her Artist Of The Week . In 2005 Support Lesbiens were one of the most played bands on Czech radio. Her single English Stereo was number 1 on the Czech radio charts for weeks in 2006.

At the end of 2008, Support Lesbiens recorded the soundtrack for the film Máj by the director FA Brabec. The special thing about the soundtrack was that all songs were sung in Czech. In the same year drummer Tomáš Novák left the band and was replaced by Svatopluk Čech. This dropped out a year later, so Support Lesbiens announced a public audition to find a new band member. About a hundred candidates attended the event. After three rounds, Zbyněk Raušer was finally chosen.

The album Homobot was released on October 3, 2011 . The first single, Bombs and Lies , was released in May 2011. An extensive club tour followed.

At the end of 2012, Support Lesbiens decided to organize an acoustic tour to mark their 20th anniversary. This took place exclusively in theaters.
