Surgeon General of the United States Navy
The Surgeon General of the Navy is the senior physician in the United States Navy . At the same time he is the commander of the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED), the official title is Chief of the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery . The Surgeon General of the Navy can be compared with the Admiralty Chief Officer of the Navy in the Bundeswehr.
Subordinate departments include the United States Navy Nurse Corps and the United States Navy Dental Corps .
BUMED departments
BUMED, headed by the Surgeon General of the Navy, comprises different departments that mainly deal with the medical and psychological care of the troops. Medical care is provided by the Navy Medical Service Corps (M09B-MSC), Navy Nurse Corps (M09B-NC), Navy Dental Corps (M09B-DC), Medical Corps (M09B-MC) and the Medical Inspector General (M00IG) , currently guaranteed by Captain Patricia J. Goodin . Part of the BUMED's tasks also includes pastoral care by Pastoral Care (MED-OOG). Accompanying tasks, for example from the areas of transport, recruiting or planning, are carried out by the Force Master Chief (M00FMC / M09B-HC), currently Laura A. Martinez , and the Public Affairs (M00P), Human Resources (M1) departments under Deputy Chief of Staff Kevin L. Magnusson and Associate Deputy Chief of Staff: RADM Ben F. Gaumer , Fleet Operations Support (M3F), Medical Operations Support (M3M), Installation and Logistics (M4), Information Management (M6), Education & Training (M7 ), Resource Management / Controller (M8), Reserve Affairs (M10) under RADM Elizabeth M. Morris , Command Information Office (M09BK6) and Future Plans and Strategy (M5).
