The Surprise River is a river in the southwest of the Australian state of Tasmania .

geography

The river has its source on the eastern slopes of Mount Ronald Cross in the Loddon Range , which is located in the northeast part of the Franklin Gordon Wild Rivers National Park . From there it flows west along the Lyell Highway and flows into the Franklin River about 2.5 km west of McKays Peak .
