He sired three Derby winners in Germany ( Acatenango , Mondrian and Temporal ) and one in Italy ( Osorio ). He also produced excellent broodmares and with them he became one of the most important breeding stallions in Germany. Surumu's daughters are u. a. Mothers of the Irish Derby and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Hurricane Run and the currently leading German father horse Monsun. Mondrian hopes to pass his blood on in Ireland through Well Made , Acatenango does so through Lando in France and Aesculap in Germany. In 2006, Osorio, the last Surumu son, was available to breeders and in 2008 he mated in England.
