Susan Jacks (* 19th August 1948 in Saskatoon , Saskatchewan as Susan Pesklevits ) is a Canadian singer and song writer and record producer .

Life

Susan Pesklevits was born in Saskatoon, Canada, as one of eight children. At the age of nine, she and her family moved to British Columbia , where she made her first television appearance on the music show Music Hop when she was fifteen . In the following years she appeared on other television shows and gave concerts in British Columbia. She founded the band The Eternal Triangle with Vancouver- based musicians Howie Vickers and Tom Northcott .

In 1966 Pesklevits met the Canadian musician Terry Jacks , with whom she founded the band Powerline . A little later the band was renamed The Poppy Family . Susan and Terry Jacks married the following year. Under the name The Poppy Family featuring Susan Jacks , the group had several chart successes in Canada. Her greatest success was in 1968 with the song Which Way You Goin 'Billy? , which reached number one on the Canadian charts and number two on the Billboard Hot 100 . The album of the same name was released in 1969. In the 1970s, the band appeared on several well-known television shows in the United States and Canada.

In 1972 Terry and Susan Jacks gave up The Poppy Family and began working on solo albums. Susan Jack's album, I Thought of You Again , was released in 1973, shortly after Terry Jacks split up. The album's title track of the same name reached number seven in the Canadian charts, and the single You Don't Know What Love Is , which was released in the same year, even reached number three. Jacks released four more albums in the following years with the titles Dream (1975), The World of Susan Jacks and the Poppy Family (1976), Ghosts (1980) and Forever (1982), none of which could build on previous successes.

In 1977 Jacks married former football player Ted Dushinski, with whom they stayed until his death in 2005. The couple have one son. Jacks was inducted into the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame in 2010 for her services in the music field. She is still active as a singer today.
