Susan Veronica Kramer, Baroness Kramer (* 21st July 1950 in the Metropolitan Borough of Holborn ) is a manager and politician of the Liberal Democrats , which between 2005 and 2010. Members of the House of Commons was, and since 2010 as a Life Peeress member of the House of Lords is .

Life

Studies, professional career and unsuccessful lower house candidacy

After attending St Paul's Girls' School Susan Kramer graduated in subjects philosophy , political science and economics at St Hilda's College of the University of Oxford and in 1971 was president of the Oxford Union during this time. She then completed a postgraduate degree in business administration at the University of Illinois with a Master of Business Administration (MBA). After completing her studies, she became a manager at Citibank , where she was finally promoted to vice-president.

Susan Kramer ran in the general election on May 1, 1997 as a candidate for the Liberal Democrats in the constituency of Dulwich and West Norwood for the first time for a seat in the House of Commons, but suffered an electoral defeat. She then took on several leading positions in the Liberal Democrats and was a member of the Executive Board of the Women's Association between 1997 and 2000 and a member of the Executive Board of the Liberal Democrats in London between 1997 and 2003 .

In 2000 Susan Kramer ran for the Liberal Democrats for the office of Mayor of London . Although it received the best second-vote result with 404,815 votes, it only achieved fourth place with 203,452 votes, so that ultimately the independent candidate Ken Livingstone won.

She was also a member of the Federal Executive Board of the Liberal Democrats from 2001 to 2004 and chairwoman of the Liberal Democrats in Twickenham and Richmond between 2001 and 2002 .

Member of the House of Commons and House of Lords

In the general election on May 5, 2005 , you succeeded in the constituency of Richmond Park, the election of the member of the lower house. However, she already lost her seat in the following election on May 6, 2010 . She was one of the losers of her party, which was able to gain 1.0 percent of the vote, but lost 5 of its 62 lower house mandates in the House of Commons. At the beginning of her parliamentary work, she was a member of the Treasury Committee of the Lower House from 2005 to 2006.

By a letters patent dated December 22, 2010, Susan Kramer was raised to the nobility as a Life Peeress with the title Baroness Kramer , of Richmond Park in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames , after leaving the House of Commons . Shortly afterwards, on 10 January 2011. Introduction ( Introduction ) as a member of the House of Lords . In the upper house, she belongs to the Liberal Democrats.
