Susanne Klein (born June 13, 1955 in Nuremberg ; † July 21, 2013 in Hamburg ) was a German visual artist .

Life

Susanne Klein was born as the daughter of the painter Eitel Klein and his wife Barbara Klein in Nuremberg. In 1974 she began her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg , which she passed in 1979 with the state examination in art education . In 1981 to 1986, the study followed Liberal Arts at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg . Since 1988 she has been working as a visual artist.

Klein was initially active in painting, photography and creating videos. Objects, fabric works and sculptures were created later. Her work mainly focused on people with their different facets.

From 1991 to 2001 she worked in a Hamburg domina studio until an illness forced her to give up this activity. In the book “Aus Lust am Pain”, published in 2013, the artist describes her experiences as a dominatrix.

In 1998, Susanne Klein received a working grant for fine arts from the cultural authority of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
