Suzanne S. Schüttemeyer

Suzanne S. Schüttemeyer (born October 1, 1953 in Hamburg ) is a German political scientist .

Life

Schüttemeyer attended Atlantic College in the United Kingdom. She then studied law and political science at the University of Hamburg (diploma in political science). It was in 1984 at the University of Lüneburg to Dr. rer. pole. PhD. Schüttemeyer was a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation .

This was followed in 1997 by the habilitation at the University of Lüneburg and the private lectureship, as well as in 1998 the representation of the professorship “Government System of the Federal Republic of Germany” at the University of Potsdam . In 2001 she became professor for government studies and policy research at the University of Halle-Wittenberg . She held the Steven Muller Chair in German Studies at the Bologna Center of the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University .

From 2006 to 2009 she was chairwoman of the German Association for Political Science (DVPW). She is Vice President of the European Political Science Network and Chairwoman of the European Confederation of Political Science Associations. In addition, she appears as a scientific advisor and member of advisory boards.

Schüttemeyer is editor-in-chief of the magazine for parliamentary questions (ZParl). She is also the founding director of the Institute for Parliamentary Research (IParl), which was founded in Halle on April 1, 2016.

The appointment procedure for her successor to the Chair for Government Studies and Policy Analysis at the University of Halle-Wittenberg triggered an extensive debate.
