Suzanne Treister

Suzanne Treister (* 1958 in London ) is a British contemporary artist . Her work is known for conceptually engaging with new technologies, addressing their relationship to society, alternative belief systems, and the possible future of humanity.

life and work

Treister lives and works in London . She completed her artistic training at Brighton Polytechnic (1977–1978), at Saint Martin's School of Art (1978–1981) and at the Chelsea School of Art (1981–1982).

Originally starting as a painter in the 1980s, she became a pioneer of digital art , media art and game art in the early 1990s . She is considered a pioneer in the field of digital and new media art and has been developing fictional worlds and organizations since the early 1990s. Her projects often span several years and include fantastic reinterpretations of existing taxonomies and stories that examine the existence of economic, military, or paranormal forces in their covert and invisible work in the world. Her works can be found in collections at Tate Britain , the Science Museum London and the Center Pompidou in Paris.
