LINZ FMR is a biennial festival for art in digital contexts and public spaces . The first edition took place in Linz at the end of March 2019 .

The focus of the festival is an exhibition in public and open space. Works by international and local artists who deal with media art , digital art , net art and similar art genres will be shown. An educational program with tours and a supporting program with discussions, lectures and concerts are also offered.

history

The festival was held for the first time from March 27 to 30, 2019 in Linz. The title was chosen with reference to the word “ ephemeral ” and refers to the fleeting character of a digital and networked present. It was already used as an abbreviation by the French poet and writer and co-founder of Surrealism , Louis Aragon , in his 1926 novel “Le Paysan de Paris” (The Peasant of Paris).

A total of 18 artists from nine different countries took part in the first edition, including Karin Ferrari , Suzanne Treister , Clement Valla and Filippo Minelli.

The festival was founded by the Linz cultural institutions qujOchÖ , servus.at, Atelierhaus Salzamt , Kunstuniversität Linz and Sturm und Drang Galerie.
