Gary Conway

Gary Conway (* 4. February 1936 in Boston , Massachusetts as Gareth Monello Carmody ) is an American actor and screenwriter . He became famous in the lead role of Captain Steve Burton in the science fiction television series Planet of the Giants .

Life

Conway made his film debut in 1957 at the age of 21 as the eponymous film monster in the horror film I Was a Teenage Frankenstein , followed by the horror film The Satan with the Thousand Masks in 1958. In addition to his film appearances, he was seen as a guest in numerous television series. So he worked in 1960 in three episodes of New Orleans, Bourbon Street .

Between 1963 and 1965 Conway played the role of detective Tim Tilson in the crime series Amos Burke . He then starred from 1968 to 1970 in the leading role of spaceship commander Captain Steve Burton in the science fiction series Planet of the Giants . In 1973 he played the murder victim in the Columbo crime thriller Wine Is Thicker Than Blood on the side of his film brother Donald Pleasence .

Later film appearances in Gary Conway's career include the 1975 drama Once Is Not Enough alongside Kirk Douglas and his role as Leo “The Lion” Burke in the action film American Fighter II , for which he also wrote the screenplay.

Gary Conway has been married to former Miss America Marian McKnight since 1957 , whom he met while studying art at the University of California, Los Angeles . The couple have two children together who also work in the film business.
