Svartsot is a Danish folk metal band founded in Randers in 2005 . Svartsot combines death and black metal with modern metal styles and Nordic folk music .
history
The band was formed in 2005 from the remnants of the band Skoll . Svartsot means "black disease" in older Danish. The band started two demos in 2005 (Svundne Tider) and 2006 (Tvende Ravne). In 2007 a contract was then signed with the Napalm Records label , where the band released their first album, Ravnenes Saga . In 2008 the band started a tour with the well-known bands Alestorm and Týr .
In December 2008, all band members except Cristoffer JS Frederiksen and Stewart Lewis left the band due to disagreements, mainly about the next album. He then reorganized the band without having to cancel a single concert.
In 2009 the album Mulmets Viser ("Songs of Darkness") was released with many rewritten songs. In 2011 the third studio album Maledictus Eris ("You shall be cursed") was released.
