Sven-Ingvars is a Swedish pop and dance band from Slottsbron in the municipality of Grums .

Sven-Ingvars formed in 1956 with Sven Svärd (drums), Ingvar Karlsson (electric guitar, accordion) and Sven-Erik Magnusson (vocals, guitar, clarinet and saxophone). Later on, Rune Bergman (electric bass) and Sven-Olof Petersson (saxophone) joined them. Sven-Erik Magnusson and Ingvar Karlsson, who played in the band since Sven-Ingvar started in 1956, are now the leading figures in the Dansband.

The first appearance brought Sven-Ingvars a fee of 172 crowns, it took place in Folkets Hus in Segmon . Among other things, Sven-Ingvars performed the classic Rock Around the Clock to the audience, with Sven-Erik Magnusson playing the clarinet, Ingvar Karlsson on the accordion and Sven Svärd on drums. The group Sven-Ingvars initially switched to popular rock songs such as Guitar Boogie Let's Think About Living and Corrina, Corrina .

Sven-Ingvars had her first hit in 1961 with her song Te dans mä Kalstatösera , after it was played on the radio program Frukostklubben . Ett litet red packet , which came from Owe Thörnqvist, was her next success. The band's hit Fröken Fräken came in first place in the Svensktoppen , and the following week Sven-Ingvar's Lied Min came second. In the following years, the band was often represented in Svensktoppen with several hits at the same time, such as in 1966 with the six songs Säg inte nej, säg kanske (16 weeks in Svensktoppen), Kristina från Vilhelmina (12 weeks), Det tror jag inte på (8 Weeks), Å jänta å ja (1 week) and Vid din sida (15 weeks).

After a few years of success, the band recorded the feature film Under ditt parasoll with Sven-Ingars as the lead role . The film was a loss for Sven-Ingvar as it was not accepted by either the audience or the critics. Rune Bergman and Sven Svärd left the group, the two musicians were replaced by Hasse Svensson and Robin Bailey.

From around the 1970s, Sven-Ingvars began to orientate themselves in a new direction. With the album Sven-Ingvars i Frödingland (1971) they had another great success. Their once popular hits of the 1960s, however, were little sought after, instead, with bands like Vikingarna and Thorleifs, the popularity of Dansband rose. Later, in the 1990s, Sven-Ingvars' greatest hits were re-recorded, and thanks to a retro wave from the 1960s, the LP På was a sales success. Hasse Svensson and Sven-Olof Pettersson left Sven-Ingvars in the late 1980s, and the two musicians Patrik Karlsson (e-bass) and Thommy Gustafsson (keyboard) joined the formation.

In 1991 Sven-Ingvars appeared at the Hultsfred Festival , where they met a completely new audience. They played "rockier" versions of popular hits like Jag ringer på fredag and Min gitarr . A comeback in the Svensktoppen meant the release of Två mörka ögon in 1991 , which stayed in the charts for 71 weeks. This record success was celebrated during a live broadcast by Svensktoppen from Karlstad on May 2, 1993. In 2006, Sven-Ingvars celebrated their 50th anniversary with a farewell tour.

Sven-Ingvars has received several awards, including the Frödingspriset 1972 , Årets Dansband at the Grammis 1990, Juryns specialpris at the Grammis Awards 2005 and the Lisebergsapplåden 2006.
