Sven Boy (born October 2, 1976 in Helmstedt ) is a former German soccer player who was last under contract with Holstein Kiel .
biography
The central defender began his playing career in the youth team at FC Schöningen 08 , but then joined the second team at VfL Wolfsburg . In the summer of 1995 he moved to Eintracht Braunschweig on a free transfer . Three years later he also moved to Arminia Bielefeld for a year on a free transfer , where he was able to score a goal in 18 second division games. Despite being promoted to the Bundesliga, he moved in the summer of 1999 to VfL Bochum, who were also playing in the 2nd Bundesliga, on a free transfer.
After one year, which VfL finished second in the table, and thus also rose, and seven goalless appointments to the first team, SpVgg Greuther Fürth paid 150,000 euros to secure the services of the defensive player. In Fürth he was a regular player for three years and made a total of 68 second division appearances. Boy's next club station was league competitor VfB Lübeck . He came to 24 missions in the 2003/04 season, but rose at the end of the season with the club from the 2nd Bundesliga . He then moved to local rivals Holstein Kiel in the Regionalliga Nord , where he scored four goals in 49 games. However, this was not enough to save Holstein from relegation to the league. Boy, who succeeded André Breitenreiter as captain, only played nine games there by the end of the first half of the season, as he was out for eight weeks due to an inner ligament that he suffered during the game against SV Wilhelmshaven . Boy left Kiel at the end of the 2010 season and ended his playing career.
Since the 2017/18 season he has been the coach of VfR Neumünster , which plays in the Schleswig-Holstein Oberliga.
