Sven Gottschling

Sven Gottschling (born November 15, 1971 in Stuttgart ) is a German pediatrician specializing in pediatric hematology and oncology with additional qualifications in special pain therapy , palliative medicine and acupuncture . He is the chief physician of the Center for Palliative Medicine and Pediatric Pain Therapy at the Saarland University Hospital in Homburg and author of the books Life to the Last and Pain Lose (co-author: Lars Amend ), both of which made it into the top 10 of the Spiegel bestseller list for non-fiction books.

Life

Sven Gottschling studied medicine in Tübingen and completed his practical year in England and South Africa. After receiving his doctorate in 2000, he went to the University Children's Clinic in Homburg, where he trained as a specialist in pediatric and adolescent medicine. He then acquired several additional qualifications and completed his habilitation in 2009 on the subject of complementary treatment methods in paediatrics . Gottschling has been chief physician since 2010 and adjunct professor since 2014. Gottschling is the father of four children. In addition to his medical and scientific work, Gottschling is a lecturer in palliative medicine, pain therapy and acupuncture in Saarland, Rhineland-Palatinate and Luxembourg. He developed the curriculum for the compulsory subject of palliative medicine at Saarland University and is also the lecturer responsible for it. He is also a member of several scientific societies and the scientific advisory board of the German pain society Certkom and IWAP (Interregional Training Academy for Palliative Medicine).
