Sven Møller Kristensen

Sven Møller Kristensen (born November 12, 1909 , † August 3, 1991 ) was a Danish literary historian , critic and sociologist , who was awarded both the Søren Gyldendal Prize and the Georg Brandes Prize .

Life

After attending school, Møller Kristensen studied literary history; At that time he was already writing music reviews on jazz music as well as lyrics such as Sangen om Larsen and was working as a jazz pianist with the composer Bernhard Christensen. In 1938 he received his doctorate with a dissertation on the subject of impressionisms i dansk prose 1870-1900 .

In the following years he wrote numerous articles on the history of literature in specialist journals and specialist books. With his two-volume work Digteren og Samfundet i Danmark i det 19. Aarhundrede , published in 1942 and 1945, he founded research on the sociology of literature in Denmark.

Møller Kristensen, who was awarded the Søren Gyldendal Prize in 1959, wrote numerous literary theoretical , works-analytical and literary historical works on Romanticism such as Den dobbelte eros (1966) in addition to his teaching activities . In 1965 he was one of the co-authors of the book En modern humanisme, alongside Svend Erik Stybe , Tom Fenchel and others .

In 1970 he was awarded the Georg Brandes Prize for his essays in the sociology of literature.
