Tom fennel

Tom Michael Fenchel (born March 19, 1940 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish marine biologist and professor emeritus at the University of Copenhagen .

Fennel received his PhD in Copenhagen in 1964 and 1969. From 1970 to 1987 he was professor of marine biology at Aarhus University , and since 1987 professor of zoology and ecology at Copenhagen University. He is an often quoted researcher, his botanical abbreviation is fennel . He is u. a. known for Fennel's law (1974), which deals with the growth of a population in relation to the body size of the organism.

Fennel received the ECI Prize and the Huntsman Medal in 1986 . Member of the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences since 1977 , he was its president from 2004 to 2008. He has also been an external member of the Royal Society , the Norwegian Academy of Sciences , the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Sciences since 2007 . In 2006 Fennel received the AC Redfield Lifetime Achievement Award .
