Sven Nelson Stammberger (born September 22,  1994 ) is a German - Canadian basketball player .

career

Stammberger moved with his family from Germany to Canada, his mother's home country, at the age of nine. He played basketball as a student at Halifax Grammar School in the Province of Nova Scotia . In 2012 he began studying chemistry and business administration at Dalhousie University, also located in Halifax ,  and made the leap to the college's basketball team. This takes part in the game operations of the Canadian university league U Sports (CIS until 2016). Stammberger developed into one of Dalhousie's achievements in the course of his studies. In the 2017/18 season he was the team's best scorer with an average of 19.2 points per match. Stammberger hit 50 three-point throws this year and averaged 7.5 rebounds per use. In the 2018/19 season he focused on his university degree and then made the step into professional business. At the beginning of May 2019 he was announced as a new addition by the German second division team Tigers Tübingen .

Personal

Stammberger's mother is the former Canadian national player Anna Stammberger (née Pendergast), who, like his father Hartwig, played in Wolfenbüttel. Sven's sister Tessa  also started a professional basketball career.
