Dean van Meegen

Sven van Meegen (born October 14, 1976 in Schwäbisch Hall ) is a German clergyman , theologian and university professor .

Life

Van Meegen grew up in Gaishardt (Neuler) near Ellwangen . After graduating from the College of St. Joseph in Ehingen (Donau) he studied in graduate theology and Magister philosophy at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich, the School of Philosophy of the Jesuits in Munich, the University of Tübingen , the Pontifical Gregorian University and the Dominican College in Rome . After receiving his diploma in 2002 and his master's in 2003, 2004 he earned a doctorate Dr. theol. with the work Old Testament ethics as the basis of today's ethics of life at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich (LMU) . His research activities also included studies in child psychology in Rome and a doctoral degree in social sciences, which he completed with a dissertation on Justice in the Diaspora at St. Elisabeth University in Pressburg .

From 2004 to 2010 he worked as a professor and as a professor at the LMU Munich and as an Old Testament student at the Philosophical-Theological University of Benediktbeuern , where he met Otto Wahl , with whom he worked more closely. In 2005 van Meegen was ordained a priest. Since 2009 he has been the leading pastor of the Lone-Brenz pastoral care unit in the Rottenburg-Stuttgart diocese , and since 2010 Catholic Dean of the Heidenheim dean's office. There he was re-elected in 2017. In 2011 he took over the professorship for social ethics and social philosophy at the faculty for social affairs at the Cooperative State University Heidenheim . He has been their dean since 2012 and was re-elected for a further six years in 2019. He thus holds two dean offices and is also a member of the social affairs commission and moderator of the deans conference.
