Swantje Scharenberg

Swantje Scharenberg (* 1965 in Hameln ) is a German sports historian.

Swantje Scharenberg studied sports science (MA) at the Georg-August-University of Goettingen , where it 1991 Arnd Krüger Dr. disc. pole. received his doctorate. She then became a university assistant at the same university. Scharenberg worked as a research assistant at the University of Queensland (Brisbane), the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and the German Gymnastics Federation . In 2010 she completed her habilitation at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology , where she was appointed adjunct professor in 2012. There she heads the research center for school sports and sports for children and young people and teaches at the Institute for Sports and Sports Science. Her academic focus is on sports history, sports journalism and gymnastics. She is the Deputy Chairwoman of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Lower Saxony Institute for Sports History and a Fellow of the European Committee for Sports History .
