Svetlana Yuryevna Sakharova
Svetlana Jurjewna Sacharowa ( Russian Светлана Юрьевна Захарова , mostly Svetlana Zakharova transcribed; born June 10, 1979 in Lutsk ) is a Russian ballet dancer . Along with Sylvie Guillem and Diana Vishnyova, she is considered one of the most famous and most highly paid dancers of our time.
Life
Sakharova began taking folk dance lessons at the age of six . At the age of ten she began her ballet training at the Kiev Choreographic School .
After winning the 2nd prize at the St. Petersburg International Competition for Young Dancers in 1995 , she was accepted into the graduate class of the Vaganova Academy in St. Petersburg . Even as a student she danced solo roles in the ballet performances of the Mariinsky Theater .
In June 1996, after graduating, she was accepted into the Mariinsky Ballet . The following year she was appointed first soloist. In 2003, Sakharova accepted the long-awaited offer from the Bolshoi Ballet in Moscow and became the first soloist there.
Sakharova's repertoire includes almost all of the great works of classical and modern ballet history. She is particularly known for her flexibility, which often leads to comparisons with athletes from rhythmic gymnastics .
Svetlana Sakharova is married to the Russian violinist Vadim Repin . In 2010 she withdrew a little because she became pregnant. On February 17, 2011, she had a daughter, Anna.
