Swetoslaw Slavchev , Bulgarian Светослав Славчев , common transliteration Svetoslav Slavčev (born December 18, 1926 in Lukowit ; † November 13, 2016 in Sofia ), was a Bulgarian writer who was best known for his detective novels and science fiction .

Life

Slavchev studied medicine and then worked as a doctor. From 1967 he was deputy editor-in-chief of the Bulgarian magazine Kosmos for 22 years , which published not only popular science articles but also science fiction stories. Slavchev has published more than 25 books and has also written plays and scripts for television and radio. In the GDR , mainly some of his crime novels and stories were translated; they appeared in the DIE series and in the Blaulicht series.

Egon Hartmann acted as Slavchev's translator, and Erik Simon translated the 1989 sci-fi selection .
