Swift is an impact crater on the northeastern front of the moon in the Mare Crisium plain , north of Peirce crater . The crater is bowl-shaped and has hardly any traces of erosion.
The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1976 after the American astronomer Lewis A. Swift .
