The Swiss gas, Swiss share of natural gas , based in Zurich , is a Swiss transport company. It procures and transports natural gas on a non-profit basis on behalf of the four Swiss regional natural gas supply companies Gasverbund Mittelland , Gaznat , Erdgas Ostschweiz and Erdgas Zentralschweiz . These also combine the natural gas requirements of the numerous Swiss local natural gas suppliers on a non-profit basis.

Swissgas operates its own 258-kilometer high-pressure pipeline network in Switzerland, is involved in the transit pipeline through Switzerland and has transport rights abroad. In 2018, the company procured around 13.8 TWh of natural gas.

The company was founded in 1971 and began sourcing natural gas in 1974. The company is wholly owned by the four regional regional companies, Erdgas Ostschweiz AG (25.98%), Gasverbund Mittelland AG (25.98%), Gaznat SA (25.98%) and Erdgas Zentralschweiz AG (5.61%) and the Association of the Swiss Gas Industry (16.45%).

For its part, Swissgas holds 51 percent of Transitgas AG in Zurich, the operator of the Swiss natural gas transport system.
