Lantal Textiles AG , based in Langenthal, is an internationally active Swiss company specializing in the design, manufacture and sale of textiles and services for passenger planes , passenger trains , coaches and city buses , trams , business jets and super yachts . The group of companies employs 695 people (as of December 31, 2018) and generated sales of over 105 million Swiss francs in 2018.

Field of activity

The family company focuses on the areas of air, bus and rail transport as well as super yachts.

For international civil aviation , Lantal develops and produces fire protection- certified seat upholstery fabrics , curtains , velor , carpets , leather , head protector covers and wall coverings for over 300 airlines and for the world's leading aircraft and seat manufacturers. As a new development first introduced in 2005, the company also manufactures pneumatic seat cushions and systems. The development took place in cooperation with Sarna-Plastec, Maxon Motor and Dornier.

For the international bus and railway traffic develops, manufactures and sells Lantal suede and flat fabric and carpets for bus manufacturers , tour operators and companies of public transport .

The group of companies produces with its own yarn dyeing and jacquard weaving mill in Switzerland, Portugal and the USA.

history

The company emerged from the Baumann & Brand company founded in 1886 by Friedrich Baumann and Albert Brand . This was active in the manufacture and trade of linen and half linen . After the two entrepreneurs separated from each other, Friedrich Baumann founded his own company in 1903 as the Baumann-Grütter general partnership . In 1930 his two sons Fritz and Willy Baumann succeeded their father, whereupon they changed the name of the company to Baumann-Grütter Sons .

In 1951 Willy Baumann left the company in order to found the Langenthal AG furniture fabric mill , today's Lantal Textiles, which produced textiles for the furniture industry. Three years later, the company won its first international customer with the airline KLM .
