Sworn to a Great Divide is the seventh studio album by the Swedish Gothenburg - or modern metal band Soilwork . It is also the first album without guitarist Peter Wichers, who left the band in 2005.
useful information
After the great success of the previous album Stabbing the Drama and the departure of original guitarist Peter Wichers, there was uncertainty as to whether Soilwork could maintain their level. On this album mostly Ola Frenning wrote the guitar parts. Except for the vocal parts, it was recorded at Not Quite Studios, Helsingborg . The vocal parts were produced by Devin Townsend . The album is considered to be the band's greatest commercial success to date, and it was able to enter the US charts for the first time. It also came with an additional DVD.
reception
Thom Jurek wrote on Allmusic.com that Sworn to a Great Divide felt like the “natural extension” of albums like Stabbing the Drama . The heavy, almost orchestral sound destroys the “heaviness” of earlier releases like Natural Born Chaos . But there is no reason to complain about the album. Jurek rated it three and a half stars out of five.
