Postage stamps from 1877 issued by the Deutsche Reichspost

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The postage stamp year 1877 of the Deutsche Reichspost contained only one definitive stamp of the series “Digit / Eagle in an Oval” with the value in “PFENNIGE”. This brand is just a color variant of the otherwise same brand from 1875.

There is no reliable information on the number of copies of the postage stamp.

Notes: The fees for the mail between January 1, 1875 and June 30, 1906 were:

  • Postcards: 5 pfennigs
  • Long-distance letters: 10 pfennigs (up to 20 g) and 20 pfennigs (up to 250 g)
  • Registered mail: 20 pfennigs
  • Return receipt: 20 pfennigs

To classify the remaining purchasing power at the time, see article: Goldmark .
