Postage stamps from 1944 from the Deutsche Reichspost

The 1944 stamp year of the Deutsche Reichspost comprised 42  special stamps , all of which had a surcharge . The final stamp of 42 Reichspfennig appeared in the definitive series of Reich Chancellor Adolf Hitler . There is no reliable information on the circulation of the stamps . Due to the war, the Reich Post Ministry decided that all postage stamps would remain valid until further notice . The stamps were therefore valid until the surrender in May 1945 . For this year, the use of a collector's pass for the special stamp purchase is proven.

While the country's name was previously the German Reich , all new stamps were given the name Greater German Reich, with the exception of Michel numbers 888 to 893, as these motifs had already been issued in different values ​​and colors in the sets of the comradeship block in 1939 and 1941.
