Postage stamps from 1875 issued by the Deutsche Reichspost
The postage stamp year 1875 of the Deutsche Reichspost contained seven definitive stamps from the series “Numbers / Eagle in Oval” with the value in “PFENNIGE”, as well as a stamp for the office staff. There is no reliable information on the circulation of the stamps.
From January 1, 1875, the German Reich began to replace the two previous currencies, the taler / groschen and the guilder / kreuzer, with the currency marks and pennies .
Notes: The fees for the mail between January 1, 1875 and June 30, 1906 were:
- Postcards: 5 pfennigs
- Long-distance letters: 10 pfennigs (up to 20 g) and 20 pfennigs (up to 250 g)
- Registered mail: 20 pfennigs
- Return receipt: 20 pfennigs
