Postage stamps from 1905 issued by the Deutsche Reichspost
In the postage stamp year 1905 of the Deutsche Reichspost , fifteen definitive stamps were issued. The fourteen definitive stamps from 1902 of the Germania series with ten stamps and four of the brands Representative Representations of the German Empire have now been printed on paper with watermarks. A new value for the Germania series is 60 Pfennig, which, however, together with the value of 3 Marks, was not officially issued until 1911. In addition, there were six official stamps for Baden , the design of the frame is identical to the Germania stamps .
As a definitive stamp series, four Germania values were also used on postal stationery as value stamps for postcards , card letters and pneumatic tube envelopes .
Before the stamps with the inscription Deutsches Reich there were the series with the inscription Reichspost , these were valid until December 31, 1902.
Hints:
Philatelists differentiate between the definitive series Germania and Representative Representations of the German Empire in the sub-series Peace Print from 1905 and War Print from 1915, whose print and paper quality is noticeably poorer due to the shortage during the First World War . The stamps are marked with attached Roman numerals I (peace) and II (war pressure). Only No. 83 at 2 Pfennig was only issued as a so-called peace print in 1905. Since otherwise the 1915 stamp year of the Deutsche Reichspost is identical to that of 1905, this article applies to both years.
The fees for the mail between January 1, 1875 and June 30, 1906 were as follows:
- Postcards: 5 pfennigs
- Long-distance letters: 10 pfennigs (up to 20 g) and 20 pfennigs (up to 250 g)
- Registered mail: 20 pfennigs
- Return receipt: 20 pfennigs
To classify the remaining purchasing power at the time, see article: Goldmark .

- ↑ Michel Germany Special 1999, p. 320
- ↑ The Germania stamps from 1905 are identical to the stamps from 1902 except for the watermark (1902: no WZ, from 1905 WZ diamonds ). Some of the images here are therefore also taken from the series from 1902, as the content of the images is identical.
- ↑ a b Although the 60 Pfennig and 3 Mark stamps were not issued until 1911, they belong to this set and therefore also to the 1905 year
