Sybil and Hans Eysenck

Sybil Bianca Giulietta Eysenck (born Sibylle Bianca Giulietta Rostal ; born March 15, 1927 in Vienna ) is a British personality psychologist and widow of the well-known personality psychologist Hans Jürgen Eysenck , with whom she worked. Their son Michael W. Eysenck is also a psychologist.

Life

Sybil was born in Vienna in 1927 as the daughter of violinists Max Rostal and Sela Trau. In 1934 she went into exile with her parents in Great Britain and was naturalized there in 1946.

Together with Hans she developed the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire and later the Junior Eysenck Personality Inventory , for which she is responsible.

She is currently (alongside Philip A. Vernon ) editor-in-chief of the journal Personality and Individual Differences founded by her husband and published by Elsevier and lecturer at the Institute of Psychiatry in London and a member of the board.
