Sylvie Lacroix (* 1959 in Lyon , France ) is a French composer, flautist and music teacher living in Austria .

biography

The Lyon born flutist ( flute ) Sylvie Lacroix studied at the Conservatoire Lyon, then at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna , where she graduated with distinction. She has lived in Vienna as a freelance flautist since 1980 . She appears mainly as a soloist and chamber musician. Her artistic focus is on new music; in this context she works regularly with composers. She is a founding member of the Klangforum Wien and was active in this ensemble until 1997.

Between 1990 and 2006 she was particularly involved in educational projects. In the course of this work she founded the summer course music palette: Chamber music for children and young people with a focus on new music.

In addition to her occupation with new music, Sylvie Lacroix has many years of experience in historical performance practice (baroque transverse flute ). From 1985 to 1991 she played at the Concentus Musicus Vienna under the direction of Nikolaus Harnoncourt . In summer 2005 she took part in the production of Mozart's “Mitridate” with “Les musiciens du louvre” under the direction of Marc Minkowski as part of the Salzburg Festival . She is also a flautist in the ensemble Il Concerto Viennese.

For several years she has been working on her own compositions. Works for chamber music as well as for flute and electronics are created.
