The Crescendo Munich Symphony Orchestra (formerly the Munich Youth Symphony Orchestra ) is a German youth orchestra.

history

The Crescendo Munich symphony orchestra was founded in 1986 by Konrad von Abel and has been led by the Argentinian bassoonist , pianist and conductor Alejandro Vila since autumn 2000 . The aim was to give young musicians of various ages - from schoolchildren from the age of 15 to aspiring professional musicians - orchestral experience under professional guidance. Two concert programs are rehearsed per year in concentrated rehearsal phases. Variable line-ups of 90 to four musicians enable a repertoire of symphonic and chamber music works from the baroque to the modern. The focus of the concert activities are performances in the Herkulessaal of the Munich Residence and the Great Aula of the Ludwig Maximilians University . There are also concerts in the surrounding area and tours abroad, and in 1996 the Crescendo Symphony Orchestra was invited to Paris as the Unicef ​​ambassador of the city of Munich . The orchestra is now considered dissolved.

Artistic Director

The artistic director of the orchestra, Alejandro Vila, completed a music degree in his native city of Buenos Aires at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música "Carlos López Buchardo", from which he graduated with distinction in the subjects of piano and bassoon. In addition, he studied composition and composition. After performing as a soloist and as a member of the youth orchestra of the National Radio and as the principal bassoonist of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Buenos Aires ( Teatro Colón ), he continued his studies in Berlin in 1984 , where he received a scholarship in the Orchestra Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra , an institute of the Herbert von Karajan Foundation. There he got to know the work of the conductors Herbert von Karajan , Claudio Abbado and Gary Bertini and was also able to observe guest conductors of the orchestra rehearsing. He sat in on rehearsals with the Munich Philharmonic and took part in his master classes in Munich. At the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival he played in the orchestra that toured Europe with Celibidache in 1988. From 1996 to 2000 Alejandro Vila was artistic director of the Munich Symphonic Ensemble. As an opera conductor he participated in several productions at the Chiemgau Festival. In addition to international concert activities, Vila is now intensively devoted to youth work. He is the artistic director of the youth orchestra of the Traunstein district and the Crescendo Munich Symphony Orchestra. After Vila a few conductors tried to secure the continuation, but the orchestra has since disappeared from the Munich cultural landscape.

The repertoire ranges from the baroque to classical and romantic to world premieres of the modern era, from large symphonic works and solo concerts to chamber orchestral and brass pieces to string quartet. In addition to better-known works, world premieres and European premieres were also staged.
